UK tribes

Stylers

Still representing status and style, it’s about partying, looking good and staying ahead of cool.

Stylers hold strong on the UK Tribes map – innately cool and stylish, the rising influence of Urban fashion and music have made them a hugely aspirational Tribe for youth today. As luxe sportswear and Urban high fashion has hit the Aspirants (check out the Hypebeasts), more young people than ever before are looking like a Styler and aspiring to their luxury lifestyle.

I think that I am part of this tribe, which can be found in the urban section, because I enjoy dressing stylishly and being in fashion. Also I enjoy going out partying.

  • What media figures (actors, musicians, sportspeople, celebrities) do you consider similar to you. In what way are they similar to you/ are you similar to them?
  • I think that a media figure such as a you tuber called Joe Sugg also fits into this tribe as he dresses very differently and stylishly also enjoys going out for a night. We are kind of similar due to this determining factors.
  • Do you consciously 'model' (copy modes of dress, style yourself, act like) yourself on any of these media figures? Why is that? Maybe not consciously no, but I certainly take notice of his style and dress sense.

    Stereotyping

    https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuRQlxCUiggUMh4YPHXo07lD9D0FkNSI5lb0Mz2SDKO2iM8dJ3esAK8WMoWx9RMzx_AS5oSCYj9P4LcN3ph97IgyFE3xiW4ciYhyTT_Q_7m3FTNUfHWPvOokkibfdoIuKHAmwkOVLbVls/s400/THE+MAN.jpg

    Make notes speculating about the man in the image;

Who is he? What does he do? What is his story? WHY?  How do you know?

He looks as if he is suffering alone and cold, this is suggested through again his pose in this still image. For example he is wearing a hat, he is on his own and not socialising with anyone, he has one hand in his pocket and he is smoking which may suggest a mild hint at depression. This clothing doesn’t match and looks very worn and cheap for example the patched up trousers and the trousers don’t match with the jacket.

Do the same for this woman:

    https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEODRAADcGxg2EhVDHfMkw0Jd70eZx2CnU4pDq7T_71QwPJxniF2q4rLY1ih2JJ357bKNv5Vnt9b_WeP4Xc9tb-kSRll7zJXpds4M6uj5TjxEzRt7whp0lIzLvkPfZX2BLZcz9dAXlYrk/s400/Julie+Christie+at+75.jpg

This woman looks elderly which could imply that she may be retired and now devotes her life to looking after maybe her children or grandchildren judging by her innocent clothing and the way she is acting in public. The clothes that she is wearing can imply many things, first of which being her occupation which from what I can tell judging by stereotypes will be an author or someone who does or did something that needs imagination or creativity. I think this because her clothes look expensive and modern/contemporary and I think that she cares about how she express’ herself through the clothing she has chosen to wear. Also the glasses and shoes maybe furthermore bag look very expensive and trendy.

Then do the same for the Man 2:

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXKMV6JlEOj1oqk8JL1yxTWCGHzGBnWqyT0WFOH8J7JVesCG1QxDY5cXGFyIrzAAMc9Ww1ya6GQNR8kJSqGU70FmkXgz0GRK45zqeMHmoZvRORMaAZf3I-XxVXZRYTPzikGEDLuCsY8hk/s400/The+man+louboutin.jpgThis man looks like a stereotypical French fashion designer, also from this image you may come to the conclusion of his sexual orientation due to the way that he dresses. This is all because of stereotypes in the clothing and indeed the fashion industry. Also the way that he is walking and his posture in this still image portrays a more camp man.

The Man 1 = Doug Bihlmaier buyer for Ralph Lauren.

The Woman = actress Julie Christie.
The Man 2 = Christian Louboutin, shoe designer.
